COMPETITIVE ELECTIONS

Brownsville Navigation District (BND) Commissioner Ralph Cowen and Texas Southmost College Trustee Delia Saenz are celebrating. They are winners. Neither drew an opponent for the May election.

BND Board President John Reed knew that he would be facing businessman Julio Graña. Incumbent Sergio Lopez will face an alleged anti-LNG opponent by the name of William Burg. At The McHale Report we searched the latter's name on both Google and Facebook and found nothing.

At the junior college TSC Board President Adela Garza encounters a foe in Jose Sifuentes. We ran the same search on him and found nothing. The only information that we have on him is that he is a young man.

Incumbent Art Rendon, surprisingly, is not seeking reelection. Alejandra Adrete, a BISD employee, will meet businessman Martin Sarkis for Rendon's seat.

"The Reed/Graña showdown should be a barnburner while the anti-LNG forces will have an opportunity to measure their strength with the mysterious Burg," said Scott Steinbeck, The McHale Report's managing editor. "Lopez ranks as a heavy favorite.

"At the college Garza remains formidable while the clash between Adrete and Sarkis will be the hot race on this board. And the election cycle goes round and round."
