 THE BROWNSVILLE TIMES: "Although we were unhappy with the overall results, we are optimistic about Marisa Leal taking her seat at the big table."

(EDITOR'S NOTE: It was no secret that The Brownsville Times was pushing the candidacies of Erasmo "El Queso" Castro and Carlos "El Cobarde" Elizondo for the BISD Board of Trustees. The blog's rhetoric sounded like it had been taped from Castro's Brownsville Talk podcast on which Elizondo appeared frequently, both echoing that everything was bad in the BISD. Wrote The Brownsville Times prior to the election: "I've seen blatant corruption, greed and threats. What kind of leader is BISD Superintendent Rene Gutierrez stating teachers are lazy and don't want to work? What kind of guy is he? This guy is a joke who is screwing us with his close to half-million-dollar salary annually. The board dared to continue letting Dr. Sylvia Atkinson take part in board meetings even after her arrest. Yet they colluded against Erasmo Castro. Why? Just because they didn’t like him? Because he went to check on the BISD staff personally? Because he’s a popular figure in the community? But yet they let Atkinson strut in the boardroom like she wasn’t facing jail time? Unfortunately, the current board has made a mockery for long enough." Apparently, The Brownsville Times' message that Castro and Elizondo were going to lead us to heaven fell on deaf ears. The voters saw the pathetic pair as incarnations of Satan and Lucifer who were going to lead the BISD straight to hell and, by more than 60% to 40% margins, gave the two the thumbs down. Did The Brownsville Times really think that these agents of chaos with no positive agenda were going to win when for starters Castro had to resign from the board for excessive drinking as well as less than professional behavior and Elizondo suffered the humiliation of being terminated as fire chief as well as facing one felony charge after another? This is Trump thinking that he can grab a teacher by the pussy at Hanna High School and shoot Mayor Trey Mendez on Elizabeth Street at high noon. This is the Fox News perspective that reality is an illusion and the ignorant masses can only be enlightened if they pledge their blind allegiance to a false prophet. Never has there been two worse candidates than Castro and Elizondo and the electorate rose to the occasion by delivering the duo a merciless ass-kicking. We do agree with The Brownsville Times that Minerva Peña deserved her ass-kicking as well and somebody should kick her in the balls so she never rises again from the dust of her defeat. Though we supported Joe Rodriguez in that contest, we wish Marisa Leal the best of luck and hope that she isn't her husband's puppet.)

Jason "The Jackal" Moody, the new public information officer for the Brownsville Independent School District (BISD), is well-known in political circles. He has advised scores of candidates who, in the end, have usually lost to Rodrigo Moreno's Pink Ape aspirants.
