DESPOT TRUMP

After listening to Donald Trump demand that Georgia's Secretary of State find almost 12,000 votes to flip the election in the president's favor or face repercussions for his intransigence, does anyone have any doubts that Trump didn't pressure the Ukrainian president into finding dirt on Joe Biden or his country wouldn't receive the needed arms in it war with Russia?

Republicans are refusing to buckle to Trump's intimidation tactics. They had the good sense to record the conversation between Trump and the Secretary of State. Just like his affairs, Trump would have denied the Secretary of State's version of the dialogue with the president. Now the entire nation can listen to Trump's own voice as he brazenly and unapologetically undermines our democracy by arguing that the Secretary of State should "recalculate" the results.

The internet is buzzing with disbelief as social media is incredulous that the mobster Trump would resort to such strongarm tactics to deny Americans their voice by eliminating their votes. Today is Monday. Tomorrow is Tuesday with two senate seats hanging in the balance. The Republicans currently hold a 50-48 edge in that chamber. Both races are toss-ups. Control of the Senate is at stake.

On Wednesday both the Senate and the House of Representatives will meet to certify Joe Biden and Kamala Harris' victories and set the stage for the January 20th inauguration. Trump has sent a call to his militia followers throughout the country to besiege Washington D.C. to protest his defeat.

America's check and balances system has worked to perfection thus far. The judicial branch has rebuffed Trump's fraudulent claims more than 60 times with the Supreme Court weighing in twice. Both Republican senators and representatives have asserted that they will not allow Trump to make a mockery of democracy.

The king is mad. He will have his throne yanked from under him in 16 days, but these final hours are treacherous times. Trump knows no limits as he has displayed in the tape insisting on a corrupt conclusion to the Georgia vote. Trump's call to criminally change the outcome of the Georgia election historically ranks as one of the most egregious acts committed against our country's most sacred right--the vote.

Trump no longer represents the Republican Party. He has created his own party baptized in the fires of hell. It is called the South African Apartheid Republican Party.

We are cautiously optimistic. The institutions will survive. The individual will perish. His own words recorded for the world to hear reveal that Trump has no respect for democracy because at heart he is a dictator with a following of thugs who are willing to burn the capital to the ground in their fanatical allegiance to the devil himself.

We have reached a fork in the road in our politics. One goes high; the other goes low. With Trump out and Biden in, perhaps we will take our next step in the right direction, but in a country filled with millions of racists, rednecks and religious right bigots, there is no guarantee that intelligence will defeat ignorance.
