/DP-M ENDORSES DANIELLA

With disgraced Erasmo "El Chetos" Castro falling further and further behind young CEO Daniella Lopez-Valdez in the latest South Texas Independent Journalist Association (STIJA) poll, we at The McHale Report can't say The Brownsville Republic's endorsement of the business woman for Position 5 on the Brownsville Independent School District (BISD) Board of Trustees is a shocker. Her impressive 56% to 44% lead over her erratic adversary in the wake of the survey is comparable to the huge advantage that Joe Biden holds over Donald Trump.

"Brownsville schools need Erasmo Castro like they need bad teachers," said the blog's publisher.

"We suspect that Mrs. Lopez-Valdez, who is 29, would manage the learning curve without much trouble. Want-to, is the key, however. And we’re on record as saying that something about this candidacy strikes us as it being a 'steppingstone' to another political post after a single term. Her father is former BISD Trustee and current Cameron County Commissioner Joey Lopez.
"Still, as they say in pro baseball, when the Ace is on the mend and all you have is a hungry rookie and an aging warhorse to put on the mound, well, the odds are better when you go with The Kid.
"With some reservation, The Republic nonetheless endorses Daniella Lopez-Valdez in this race. The alternative is a very, very possible nightmare, and who wants that?"
Describing Castro as a nightmare is a compliment for someone who had to resign from the board for a DWI, whose own colleagues voted to prohibit him from appearing on school facilites and district extracurricular activities and who recently call his foe a "dog" in the same manner of another man going mad--Trump.
Echoing our sentiments at The McHale Report, the veteran journalist voices his disgust with Castro whose penchant for taking selfies with young boys whenever he descended unexpectedly on a BISD school caused tremendous consternation among district administrators, particularly as parents raged against this behavior.
"He’s the annoying fly in the dining room, the candidate who won a BISD Trustee seat two years ago and then resigned it following a much-publicized DWI arrest, " /DP-M succinctly opined before adding later in his endorsement.
"Mr. Castro, a playful, rarely-serious personality sort at the mature age of 52, has shown himself to be more interested in Mr. Castro than in much else. His playground behavior during his two years as a BISD trustee was marked by childish, public horseplay and disturbing unannounced appearances at BISD campuses, something that always puzzled administrators.
"He’s a used tire at this point, is our feeling, after losing campaigns for Cameron County Democratic Party chairman, for mayor and for the schoolboard in a previous election."
At The McHale Report we pride ourselves on our insightful prose, but in this instance we have to applaud our longtime ally as he pounds the last nail in Castro's coffin.
