/DP-M ENDORSES DENISE

The publisher of The Brownsville Republic, veteran journalist and satirical raconteur /DP-M, is endorsing Denise Garza, pictured above (No! She's not pregnant!), for position 2 on the Brownsville Independent School District (BISD) Board of Trustees.

/DP-M, easily infatuated by all women, particularly if it's two in the morning and he has quaffed a quart of whiskey, is hoping that the voters are going to teach the macho Mexicans that the days of Los Tres Buitres--Erasmo Castro, Carlos Elizondo and Viro Cardenas--for starters have come to an end. El Gallo is dead! Long live  La Gallina!

Just like it's time for Kamala Harris to be the first female vice president, /DP-M says it's time for the damsels to take over a district that has been forever damned by their male counterparts. With Dr. Prisci Roca-Tipton and Drue Brown, both capable and competent trustees already on the board, /DP-M is recommended Jessica Gonzalez, Daniella Lopez-Valdez and Marisa Leal along with Garza join them.

/DP-M's only exception is Eddie Garcia, but this selection may be due to the fact that there isn't a woman on this ballot. There is a rumor that /DP-M may suggest to his many readers that they should write in Dr. Esperanza Zendejas' name, but the Baker Boys have been unable to confirm what may be nothing more than the usual cheap Brownsville gossip at election time.

"From what I gather she is overjoyed with /DP-M's confidence in her ability to serve the community," said Annie Gunn, la señorita of sunshine and showers and all subjects distaff at The McHale Report.

"She never thought that managing the concession stand at West Little League Baseball would qualify her to be one of seven votes overseeing an operation of 40,000 students, 7,0000 employees and a $550 million budget, but returning change after the purchases of hot dogs or soft drinks has given her an insight into economics that her two male opponents simply do not understand."

"Mrs. Garza, meanwhile, has managed to run a traditional campaign, including the obligatory taco giveaway (Saturday) as a way to advance her first political campaign," commenced /DP-M in his promotion of Garza's candidacy.

He later adds: "She’s green and she does not have a college degree. And like many rookie politicians, she can only offer herself and her thoughts, very much like then-rookies Prisci Roca-Tipton and Drue Brown did two years ago, when they sought their BISD Board seats and won."

In conclusion, /DP-M comes to her defense regarding her lack of education by declaring: "The criticism that Mrs. Garza does not have a four-year college degree is rendered moot in the face of all that mess 'the BISD’s 'all-college” board experienced during the past two years, with two college-educated members arrested, one resigning in the middle of his 4-year-term following a DWI arrest and the other one, accused of taking a bribe, opting not to seek re-election."

"Garza is simply concentrating on her strategy," offered the award-winning reporter Gunn. "Good coaches don't preoccupy themselves with the opposition. They know that if they execute successfully, nine times out of then they will prevail. Besides knowing that she's facing two males, she is so focused on her campaign that she doesn't even know their names. She thinks one guy's name is 'Dick' and the other is a sophomore at St. Joe."

The latest South Texas Independent Journalists Association (STIJA) poll currently has her in the lead. A candidate only needs a plurality and not a majority to win.
