ELIZONDO BETRAYS FIREMEN
When Carlos Elizondo was hired as Brownsville Fire Chief in May of 2016 under the shadiest of circumstances with the usual shenanigans shaking confidence in the already demoralized department, Juan Montoya's El Rrun Rrun went wild with commentary as Elizondo's Matamoros politics had prevailed once again in the Third World Capital of the United States.
Elizondo's reign was short and chaotic and the City finally fired him. But his end began at the beginning as these comments predict at the time of his hiring. The silent masses, whom Elizondo believes will be voting for him in the BISD election, had nothing good to say about him four years ago. From Montoya's blog:
Critic #1: A wildfire will rage within the BFD. Mark my words. Many firefighters hate Carlos Elizondo. They know he tried to cheat his way up the ranks. It was a very Mexican thing to do, but they still hate him. The sale of water hoses at Home Depot will soar when the firemen go on strike. It will be a long, hot summer is what I hear.
Critic #2: Sometimes it is far better to hire from outside. This looks like one of those instances.
Critic #3: I'm sure privatizing EMS for the benefit of his own company will definitely be addressed. He's lining his pockets with taxpayer money and selling out his fellow firefighters in the process.
Critic #4: He will address the EMS shortage by stealing the non-emergency transfers from the city budget. He has already been arrested for stealing. He has interest in a local EMS company already making transfers against a city ordinance.
Critic #5: Carlos' selection by the city for this position is a practical demonstration of the political compadrismo that continues to plague us. In Carlos' case, it is evident that he has consistently colored outside the lines and taken care of number 1 first. He is yet another testimony to why the country continues to look to Brownsville for politics as practiced in the worst of the 19th century. We have many brave and effective firefighters in our community; they deserve better.
Critic #6: Ha! Ha! Ha! You think this bald-headed asshole is going to do anything to improve the department. Carlos only cares about Carlos. He gets up up and looks in the mirror and says I love you and then he hears the mirror say I love you more. He is a person with no integrity that has shown the hard-working personnel that hard work doesn't pay off. What has Carlos ever done to improve the fire service? Not one damn thing! Hell he can't even be bothered to do his own fire reports he is so damn lazy.
Critic #7: If Carlos could not even pass a test, why would we think that he can be smart enough to run the department? Oh! I forgot! He will put his people to run it for him. The city manager sure likes the smell of shit because that's who they are putting in the chief's position.
Critic #8: I'm just observing from outside the box, but this little character by the name of Carlos Elizondo is going to cost the city many lawsuits. I'm reading that he has a record of felony theft, cheating on a civil service test and assault charges. That is not a good combination to have for someone in charge of a fire department. Charlie Cabler does not have the foresight to make an intelligent decision for Brownsville.
Critic #9: He should change his name to Carlos the Brown Noser.
Critic #10: Like our politicians, we don't just accept pendejos; we demand pendejos. Here we have one arrogant asshole replacing another. Can the community survive the arrogance of the new asshole?
Critic #11: Isn't he the guy who couldn't pass the civil service test?
Critic #12: This guy is a piece of shit! It does not surprise me that he has weaseled his way in to become our fire chief. Another RATA with DOS PATAS!
Critic #13: Carlos' answer to every disagreement is let's take it outside and settle it like men. Typical school yard bully tactics. That exemplifies the Carlos everybody knows at the department.
Critic #14: What did he do for extra credit to get points added on his test ?
Critic #15: So you see, kids: All you need is a D average (69) to become the Chief of BFD!
Critic #16: Carlos has no experience or qualifications at anything. All the city wants is Elizondo to work with them to screw the firefighters' contract and benefits. That's it! Any idiot can do that for his own benefit, right, Carlitos. Fuck you and don't call me again to help you how to fuck over the firefighters. Asshole!
Critic #17: An entrance level firefighter has been denied being hired for traffic tickets and the City hires this thief to lead a fire department?
Critic #18: Carlos Elizondo thinks he is so smart. It's only a matter of time, just like Mark Sossi.
Critic #19: The man is a cheater and a liar. He taught Trump everything he knows.
Critic #20: He wants to play with the big boys as the new fire chief. It won't take long for the wheelers-and-dealers to discover that Carlos has very small balls.
