GARZA ISN'T SMART

 EL RRUN RRUN CONTRIBUTOR: "Where is Waldo? Where is Denise Garza? Several board candidate debates have been held after the BEST sponsored debate. After her amteurish, comical and poor performance during the BEST debate, Denise and her handlers must have seen the disastrous outcome and decided for Denise to skip out the upcoming debates to avoid further embarrassment. The more Denise talks, the more it becomes clear that she has no idea about how a school district operates. She might understand clerical work, but what does she know about policy making, understanding finance, personnel issues, legal matters, etc. Denise claims that she cannot participate in the debates because she is holding gatherings with her supporters. In the middle of a pandemic? If this is true, does she not have the common sense to avoid gatherings unless she has few supporters at her gatherings? It seems to be clear that Denise has no clue."

(EDITOR'S NOTE: Nobody is going to accuse Denise Garza of having a high I.Q. In fact she is running for the Brownsville Independent School District (BISD) Board of Trustees on the platform that a higher education degree isn't important. But it could be worse. She could be one of Los Tres Buitres--Erasmo Castro, Carlos Elizondo and Viro Cardenas--and claim that spending time in the slammer is the steppingstone to bigger and better things. We aren't called the Third World Capital of the United States by coincidence and come hell or high water we're not going to lose that identity. We may be nothing, but that's something. As to Garza's anti-higher education philosophy, both her opponents--Frankie Olivo and Jaime Diez--are university graduates and their professional backgrounds reflect their education. Garza, a clerk, would like to climb the ladder to a higher paying job, but there are no rungs that she can scale in order to move upwards. Everyone is asking the same question: "Who convinced Garza to run because she lacks the initiative to arrive at that decision herself?" Like any good gambler, somebody assured her that the odds were on her side as the only female vying against two men. With thousands of ignorant voters streaming to the polls with no knowledge that the BISD is a political entity and no familiarity with the candidates, Garza is counting on the blind female vote to carry to victory.)
