MINERVA & DENISE
EL RRUN RRUN: "It seems that Minerva Peña is attempting to conceal the sources of her campaign contributions. Peña received $250 from Thelma Banduch and $250 from Hiram Gutierrez. These two are attorneys in the Edinburg office of Purdue, Brandon, Fielder, Collins and Mott, a property tax collection law firm. Peña also reports a $1000 contribution from a Brandon, the same name as one of the partners in the tax collection firm. None of these people lives in Brownsville, but Peña indicates they do. Garza's campaign report shows a $1000 contribution from the same tax collection firm. Seems odd that a law firm would give such a large contribution to a school clerk. It seems that Peña and Garza are working together with Sylvia Atkinson to get donations from firms wanting to do business with BISD. Neither Peña nor Garza can do this without Atkinson's help. All this seems very shady. Voting for Peña and Garza is like voting to continue with the corruption and fraud the way Atkinson likes it. Think about this: Is this what we want for BISD and our children?"
