OMAR VS. ERIC

Challenger Eric "The Geek" Garza claims that he is more virile than Cameron County Sheriff Omar "El Hombre" Lucio because he is younger. In his illogical logic, he believes that as a snot-nosed punk he should replace the grizzled veteran based simply on age.

We only know what we hear. Oftentimes, our information is gathered at The Library or The Palm Lounge in historic downtown and the hour is late and the alcohol has been flowing freely since Happy Hour. The reader, as he should always do, must determine for himself the credibility of el rrun-rrun collected in drunk conversations.

This is the word on the street: The sheriff can still fire his pistol. In local circles, he is known as "The Machine Gun." Garza, the milquetoast man who boasts the machismo of a a spider monkey, is still learning how to load his derringer, let alone get off a shot.

Like Donald Trump, Garza has less that zero experience in law enforcement. We are experiencing firsthand Trump's incompetence as a result of lacking the background to be president.

They say Garza, among other eccentricities, has entertained sexual fantasies about handcuffs for years, but we don't think his wet dreams qualify as experience on his resume.

There is the well-known fact that his candidacy is based on vengeance because his best buddy felt slighted by the sheriff's office in a previous election and there is the nastier rumor that there is Matamoros money behind him.

The last time Matamoros elected a Cameron County sheriff, it was Conrado "El Colombiano" Cantu. And we know that the cartels reduced this lawless lawman to an unsavory character.
